Humanitarian Technology Practitioner and Social Entrepreneur, Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC)
Mr. Biplov Bhandari, is a social and humanitarian technology practitioner, working in the community engagement and empowerment. He works as GIS Application Developer for the Servir Mekong Project with ADPC. Previously, he worked as Research Associate at Asian Institute of Technology, Geomatics Engineer at Kathmandu Living Labs and as consultant for Practical Actions and Development Gateway. Additionally, he is member and developer at Sahana Software Foundation where he develops, implements and evaluates the Location Based Early Warning System. He is also the International Coordination Council Member at AstaJa Research and Development Center. Biplov has extensively supervised and trained in the community level mapping using OpenStreetMap.
He was one of four young surveyors from around the world to be awarded with the FIG Foundation Grant for attending at FIG Working Week 2017 in Finland. He was also the speaker and fellow to attend the 7th ICCM conference in Philippines in 2016. Biplov was awarded with the Young Author Recognition, and the paper was awarded with the best paper by ITU. Biplov and his team also won the International Space Apps Challenge Kathmandu 2014.
Biplov earned his Bachelors of Engineering from Kathmandu University, Nepal.
